This game is ridiculously confusing and I’m even using a walkthrough. How the hell are you supposed to get past the part where you’re at the work bench and you have to put those numbers you found into a box that has a code? It won’t let me do shit.
Whoever made this game obviously wasn’t thinking straight because they made it impossible. Dumb.
This game isn’t really good in any respect of the word. There’s a confusing story that never gets explained. The puzzles are impossible without a walkthrough. The navigation system is downright confusing at its best. The game has good atmosphere and I like the use of real pictures but its not scary. The only vaguely supernatural part is that random shadow that sometimes appears and sometimes doesn’t. Also, I tried it with a walkthrough, and got stuck at the door because this game doesn’t work.
i dont get the story of the game, who was ruby? who is johny? who’s doll wasit? why was there a bloody knife, was there really a murder? who is that doctor guy? what happened to them, and who is the kid at the corridor in the begining of the game?

i figured out the lightning thing. when you get all the gems on the shapes place the doll in the giant circle and then use the mirror. i hope this helped!

the numbers arnt there on the wooden bow you just have to imagine they are there. What i mean is that number 1 is at the begining and number 5 is at the end. So all you have to do is press the las button then the middle one twice then the 4th button along. that is 5334!!!!!!!!!

if you follow the walkthrough you will be fine. However, the code to the door is wrong so follow the second walkthrough. THIS IS NOT SCARY at all, no creepy crawlies except for a tiny spider near the blackboard and a little shadow who could be the cleaner in the hall. Can i just point out, that there are no such things as asylums, and the nearest you will get to one is a mental health unit, and they are not scarey at all (grin).

How do u use the screwdriver
Help seeker.. I advise you to get yourself pen and paper. Fiona’s guide didn’t help esp with the codes.
For the clock.. you need to place the short arrow in between 2 and 3 then only it gives you the gem.
For the door code.. i had a hard time figuring it out! But the code is 23541
For the light bulb.. BCA DCA DCA DBC. But you need to get the arrangement of the panel right first. And you REALLY need to ON BOTH light bulb before you proceed to the basement to get the doll.
Hope my guide lines help.

ok ppl. here is my walkthrough:
-when you wake up in the room with the chair in it, click the dirt under the ladder a couple times and a screwdriver will appear there. click the screwdriver, then go up the ladder (move your cursor to the top middle of the screen) then click Items and find your screwdriver then click the lock and you are out of that smelly room.
-go to the right, then down, then down again, now go left.
-click the panel on the wall with the four white lights and imagine them like this:

Now click them in this order: 2 3 1 4 3 1 and the lightbulb should turn on
-click off of the panel to close it, now click the metal box in the back just to the right of the light panel and click the blue gem in it to pick it up
-go to the right, up, then left, then left again and click the double doors up the ramp
-click the panel with 5 buttons on it and imagine them like this:

-you will come to a room with pretty (but spooky) red fog in the back but DO NOT GO AHEAD INTO THE RED FOG OR YOU WILL DIIIIIEEEE!!!!! 0_0; then on the bottom left corner of the screen there is a boxy, so slide the boxy a little ways to the right and click the red gemmy that was under it.
-go to the right, right again, then up, then up, now go to the right and see the clock on the right of the wall? click it, click it again.
-now, see the hand on the top? click it until it is a number away from the other hand. now click the other hand until it is between number 2 and 3. the clock is now set to 2:27. A green gem should appear, so you should get it. you are now back in the hallway after clicking to the left of the screen when you were at the clock.
-go to the right and you see a locked door in front of you. click the little window in the upper part of the door. this will open, and you get a purple gem! click it!
-go down, now go to the left. see that support beam pillar thingy on the right of the screen next to the creepy omen circle on the floor? click on the pillar, then click right in the middle of the pillar, where the corner of it is, and a brick falls out. there was a yellow gem behind the brick! click it!
-go left, then left again, then go forward and you should see a rubber glove on the desk on the right. click on it to pick it up.
-go back, right, then down and click the metal can next to the door. there is a wrench submerged in green liquid (acid?) use your glove to get the wrench out.
-go up and then right and you are back in the room with the circle surrounded by symbols on the floor.
-put the gems you have in this order onto the circle:
red: circle
yellow: star
blue: ( moon
green: sun
purple: ) moon

What I know is left to do:
-you also need to find a cracked mirror
-you use the wrench to turn the first knob to the right of the ladder in the room you started in to turn on the water
-after the water gets turned on, you go to the right of the room you started in and you see a well which should contain a doll
-the doll you find goes in the center of the circle with the symbols around it
oh yeah and guys, the screen isnt dark for me. its perfectly light. just change the screen settings. if you cant do that, then either get smarter or buy a monitor from the 2000’s, not the 1900’s
fiona, when i clicked the BCADCA for the circle switches, only one light turned on. you said that both the lights would turn on. oh, and when i clicked the wrench on the knob thingy, it said that the water turned on, but when i looked in the well, i clicked around every inch of the screen there and i did not get my doll
you have to go back to the light switch box and flip the lever thing so that both lights are on, then go to the well and you can get the doll

the walkthrough was great. i think the codes may change with different players though, which is why some of you were confused.
the game was hard though, but if you know general rules of point and click games you’ll get through. the walkthru helped a lot.

Okay so for the lights:
When you put in the code to get the upper light on (as stated in previous walkthrough), you have to go back to the very first start screen and use the wrench on the far knob to turn on the water.. /then/ you go back to the light puzzle and flip the switch. After that, you go /back/ to the start screen, right to the well and get the doll. Also – when you’re putting the gems in the positions on the drawing on the floor, be sure to put the doll in the center of the circle to get the lightning.
Congratulations.
I used the code on the lights, got the upper light on and pulled the lever and got the message: “The switch will not move, it’s not working for some reason.”
So unless you have a better idea, there’s no reason to repeat yourself or get upset with us because we can’t figure it out.

I`m now there where you are! I solved the Puzzle! I`m not really sure if I did it really so how the board said, but normaly it should be!!! You have to click with your mouse the order which gives the sketch on the board! So first you have to click the upper circle (if the 5 (Y) is shown in your Sketch on the first circle from down), than the circle under the first circle which you had to click, and so on…your order is easy. You only have to click the circles from up to down. Do it quick, than you automatically can go through the door! Sry, my english is not great. It`s not my native language!^^”

Walkthrough:
-Click the dirt below the steps a couple of times to get the screwdriver.
-Go up the ladder and use the screwdriver on the padlock.
-Note the diagram on the wall. Click the wooden block on the floor and note the symbol and the number 5.
-Go left and then the arrow at the bottom of the screen. Click the bottom arrow again.
-Go right and note the diagram on the floor. Click the pillar and note there are loose bricks.
-Click the bricks until one falls off. Get the yellow gem. There are 2 loose bricks but only one gives you the gem.
-Click the up arrow and get the pocketwatch. Note that the time is stuck on 2:27.
-Go down and left. Turn left again. Click the wooden block and note the symbol and the number 4. Get the ceramic H.
-Go forward and get the rubber glove.
-Go back, right, and then click the bottom arrow. Get the ceramic N.
-Click the big metal bin and use your glove to get the wrench.
-Go left. Get the mirror. Click the panel on the right side of the wall and get the blue gem. Note the light bulbs don’t work.
-Go back all the way up the stairs and then go forward once.
-Turn left and note the clock on the left side. Set the clock to 2:27. Get the green gem.
-Exit the room and go forward. Get the ceramic J from the right side of the workbench.
-Note the wooden tile with the symbol and number 3.
-On the front of the workbench you will see the symbols to the ones that correspond to the numbers you found. This code ends up being 5334.
-Click the wooden box under the table and if you think that the buttons on the box are number 1-5, from left to right. Press the buttons for 5334. Get the set of keys.
-Go back and then left. Open the panel and get the purple gem.
-Use the keys to open the door.
-Click the chalkboard and note the orientation of the star, as well as the points on the star that correspond to the 5 “buttonsâ€. Note where the arrow is pointing.
-Click the calendar next to the window and note the symbols that are associated with each month.
-Get the bloody knife at the bottom of the left side desk. Exit the room, go forward, and then right.
-Click the star puzzle and starting with “J†at the top, spell “JOHNY†in a clockwise direction.
-Note that the arrow is pointing to the letter “Hâ€. (Remember there was an arrow pointing at point on the star in the chalkboard diagram?).
-Go back downstairs to the stairwell. Use the knife in the switch on the left. Get the old book from the desk that is now lit up. Note that each month’s entry is outlined in a certain color.
-Click the down arrow and go left twice. Click the door up ahead and then the door panel.
-With the diagram on the chalkboard the letter that the arrow was pointing to on the star puzzle, you can deduce that from top to bottom, the letters are Y J O N H. Press the letters in the order that spells JOHNY (51243).
-Open the door, move the boxes and get the red gem. Note the thick red fog.
-Go back and note the symbols on the wall.
-Turn right twice and then back. Note the orientation of the symbol above the door. Now go left.
Explanation of light bulb puzzle:
-Take a look at the diagram you have that you got from the wall when you first exited the basement. Each square represents the corresponding buttons where the lightbulbs are. There is a symbol with a circle with one arrow pointing up and one pointing right. Remember a similar symbol above the door right before the light bulb puzzle? The circle had arrows pointing down and left. Physically turn your paper so that the diagram had the circle symbols pointing down and left as well. Now mentally label the squares:

-Now recall the two symbols (one had 2 circles with curved lines and one had 2 circles connected by one line) that were just before the door leading to the red gem.
Starting with the 2 circles/curved lines, the arrow path will give you the pattern: BCA.
Now going to the 2 circles connected by one line and follow the arrow path. You now get DCA.
-If you think that the buttons are:

Press them in this order: BCA, DCA. Both lights should now be on.
-Go back down to where you began. Use the wrench on the handle that wouldn’t turn. Now the water is on.
-Go left and get the doll from the well.
-Go back to the room with the diagram on the floor (and the broken pillar). According to the symbols from the months on the calendar, as well as the color that each month’s entry in the diary appear. Please the gems in the appropriate spots and then the doll in the middle.
October – Sun – Green
November – Crescent moon (points to left) – Purple
December – Crescent moon (points to right) – Blue
January – Star – Yellow
February – Circle – Red
-Use your mirror on the lightning. Now your mirror is powerful.
-Return to where you got the red gem (you will have to reenter the JOHNY code). Use the mirror on the thick fog and you’re out!
