u need to open the safe, in the bookshell with the disscount (children’s books) u see 5 white books, just put the same colors as the note u found in the blue book, rest is easy

what do you do with the batteries? I was able to set the waste paper into fire by focussing the light from the lamp with the lens… but where do you use the batteries?

You will get a lemon near the next bookshelf. (I know this sounds random and stupid but bear with me you find a damn lemon). When you get to a history section click on the green book. Thats the Ulysses book. Then grab the knife behind the book by examining it. If you didn’t pick up the big red novel in the beginning entitled “The Life and Opinions of Tristam Shady Gentleman”, go get it you need it. Open it up. When you get the lemon slice it in half with the knife. Use half of lemon to uncover code inside of red novel on the gray space. Just like in National Treasure when they used lemon juice to unlock a secret message behind the Declaration of Independence.
Oh almost forgot. When you find the code. Use it on the cash register. That gives you the battery.
