the four-digit number is random…just set the key document bars the same as the chem tubes and enter the number to open the cabinet.

its not 4772 its 4797 took me ages to get that !!!
In somebody’s walkthrough they say to try :
green 2 times
red 1 time
blue 4 times
black 3 times
It doesn’t work for me but helped me understand how it worked a little better….however…no matter what combination I try, no matter what I do…I can’t get that stupid computer “key” thing solved…man I hate that puzzle…it’s insane, too hard, and frustrating, who in their right mind would have a color coded “key” thing like that to get into their own computer? Sure, it’s “perfect” as protection against a hacker or something, but stupid as a personal pass and putting something like that in a game, with no “skip” option is just evil. LOL
A color coded puzzle shouldn’t be hard and frustrating or make you want to kill the creator. LOL
Hard puzzles with no skip option really ticks me off.

Since Christmas is over, here is the walkthrough:
Bell- is under white teddy bear’s hat
Snowman- is under the bureau
Read the green book in the bottom left drawer
Click lamp shade, get orange light bulb
Click just behind the laptop to get the knob
Go right
Gingerbread man is under puppy picture
Check under the calendar (for future reference)
Go right, click IN sink and collect white mug
Use knob on faucet, turn it on so the water runs, and collect water with mug
Go right, click bookshelf above the bed and collect black key from under the book that is lying down. Go left to the lab station and open top drawer with black key to obtain black cord.
Go right, click just to the left of the brown box the lamp sits on, and use cord to plug it in. Now you can type in the code: 8+4*92 (from page 5 in the green book). Replace the white bulb in the lamp with the orange bulb, and it will now turn on.
Go back to the lab station and make a note of the levels of chemicals in the test tubes.
Go to the laptop and notice that you can adjust the colors in the columns. If you adjust them to correspond correctly with the level in the test tubes, you should be able to obtain code 4772, which will open the cabinet under the sink.
Once you open the cabinet under the sink, get the orange hammer. Go right, and use the hammer on the crack in the floor in front of the now-folded-up bed. Keep knocking until you can get the gold key.
Use the gold key to open the right cabinet in the bureau. From the top of the white box get- the Bow. Open the box to get a small seed and instructions for a magical tree. Before you leave the cabinet, grab the small spade.
Go left, and use the small spade to plant and bury the seed, and water it with the mug. Then turn on the orange lamp to give it a little sunlight.
Go around the room once, and by now you’ll notice an email on your laptop. it will tell you to knock the door three times to open it. Go right, do this, and get the ladder, the Blue Ornament from in the bucket, and a card key from the shelf. Prop the ladder up against the wall with the calendar and click up. Knock the matches down and pick them up.
Go right two times. You’re tree should be getting pretty big by now! Use the card key in the slot below the snowman (snowcat?) picture. Take the beaker and read the instructions on the torn paper.
If you’re tree has blossomed ornaments, take the lone red ball. Go the the lab table and follow the recipe: add water to beaker, light Bunsen burner, boil water, add blue chemical and red ball. Eureka, you have a dark/light blue substance.
If you remember page 3 of the green book, this colored mixture will make something small into something big. You’re Christmas tree is still looking kind of puny, so use the mixture on it, and it will sprout into a monster pine tree. As it explodes, it will drop a golden ball.
Go right, open the ball and the Star will be in it. Go right again and collect your ladder so you can climb this beast of a tree. And this, my friends, is your escape.
If you’ve collected all the ornaments, you may decorate your tree.
