Walkthrough -
Click “Yes” to accept the offer (obviously).

Go forward through the gate, forward again to the porch, and forward once more to the front door. It’s locked, of course.

Look down (this is the navigation arrow in the lower-middle of the screen, not the one in the lower-right corner), and move the welcome mat to get the front door key. Then go back (NOW use the arrow in the lower-right), and use the key to unlock the door. Go in. (We’ll call this room the Main Foyer.)

Turn right, and zoom in on the chest of drawers. Open the left cupboard and pull out the jewelry box, then open it and get a button. Close the box again.

Open the top drawer in the middle, pull out the box, and click the lower-left edge to open it. Read the newspaper clipping inside for the first part of the back story concerning the disappearance of 8-year-old Liesl Woodhouse. Then click the paper to close it.

There’s nothing in the bottom drawer or the right cupboard, so zoom out.

Go through the door here (we’ll call this the East Hallway), then go to the door at the end of the hall. There’s already a key in the lock, so go inside.

Zoom in on the coffee table, open the box, and read the newspaper clipping for the next piece of the back story. Seems poor little Liesl accidentally drowned in the family’s well…

Zoom out and turn left. Notice the picture of a rainbow above the table. Now zoom in on the table, and look at the box. Click the colors in the order of a rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet) to open the box. Inside you’ll find a lock of hair (which you can’t take), and a generic door key. (I call it generic, because every single one you find looks exactly the same.)

Zoom out and turn left. Zoom in on the chest of drawers. Open the top-right drawer, pull out the wallet, and click the bottom to open it. Read the piece of paper inside for a clue to a secret door you won’t find until near the end of the game. Record this, then click the paper to put it away.

There’s nothing in the other three drawers, so zoom out.

The view to your left just contains a box we can’t open yet, so we’ll skip it for now. Leave the room, then zoom in on the second door on your right. Use the generic door key to unlock it, and go in.

Zoom in on the shelves to the left. Open the box, and read the paper inside. It’s the coroner’s report on Liesl’s death; apparently, she didn’t die from drowning, but from having her blood drained out of her via a bite on her neck!

Zoom out, then zoom in on the Scrabble board on the floor. The letters spell out “Homer”, the first of six authors you need to find (remember the “six books” clue?). Record this, then zoom out.

Zoom in on the table. There’s a bent needle here, tangled up in a bunch of threads; you need to click the end of each thread in the right order to free the needle. You can solve this by simple trial-and-error, but if you don’t have the patience, here’s the solution:
Spoiler:
Bottom-right, bottom-left, top-middle, top-right, bottom-middle, top-left.
Get the bent needle and thread, then zoom out, and click the back arrow to leave the room.

Click back again to return to the Main Foyer, and turn right twice. Open the left door; it’s a closet. Examine the manila envelope; there’s nothing inside, but the colors of the stamps are a clue for later, so record them. Now zoom out.

Go through the double-doors on the right (we’ll call this the West Hallway), and you’ll have a brief encounter with the little girl’s ghost. (She just says “Get out!” and then disappears.) Go through the open doorway on the right, then go through the middle door to enter the kitchen. Read the note from the housekeeper, telling you that she left the upstairs guest room unlocked, and that she left you the key to the back door. Close the note, and get the back door key. Then click back once to leave the kitchen.

Zoom in on the door to your left, and use the back door key to unlock it. You can go outside if you want, but there’s nothing to do out there just yet, so don’t bother. Zoom out, then navigate back twice to get back to the Main Foyer.

Turn right, and go upstairs. Turn left, and open the second door on your left; it’s a linen closet. There’s a green box on the bottom shelf; take it out, then use the button on the round hole, and click the button to open the box. Get another generic room key, then zoom out.

There’s nothing else to do upstairs for now, except visit the guest room (in which you can’t do anything yet), and peek into a bathroom with a tub and a rubber ducky (no idea what this room is for, I never did anything here). So turn left and head back downstairs.

Turn right and go through the double doors into the West Hallway, then into the open door. Zoom in on the right-hand door, and use the generic door key to unlock it. Open it and head down to the basement. (Don’t worry, there’s nothing scary down there.)

There are a whole bunch of tools here, including a hammer, screwdriver, axe, and shovel; but of course, you can’t take any of them. (I think this game is mocking us. ) The boxes, however, are of interest, so zoom in there.

Your goal is to move the boxes around to make stairs to reach the top-most box. Personally, I found this part to be kind of random, and more than a little frustrating, since you have to start over if you mess up. So if you don’t have the patience to solve it with trial-and-error, here’s the solution:
Spoiler:
Click the top box in the middle stack, then the box underneath that, and then the one underneath that to climb higher.
Click the big brown box on the right, then the grey one second from the right, then the grey one on the far right, and then that same grey one again to climb up.
Click the brown box on the left to open it.
Once you’ve reached your goal, get the crowbar from inside, then zoom out.

Head back up to the main floor, then go through the left door to enter the backyard. Turn left and zoom in on the sealed well, then use the crowbar to pry off the lid. (You’ll see a brief shot of Liesl’s ghost, which then vanishes.) There’s a key down there, but you can’t reach it. Use the bent needle and thread on the crowbar that’s still sticking out, then click the thread to hook the key with it. Grab the heart-shaped key, then zoom out.

Turn left and go back inside, then go back twice to return to the Main Foyer. Turn right twice, go through the doors to the East Hallway, and enter the room at the end of the hall.

We’ve been here before, but now we can open that box we skipped earlier. Turn right, zoom in on the small table, and use the heart-shaped key on the heart-shaped box (what a coincidence!) to open it. Get another generic door key from inside. (There’s also a star-shaped thing here, but you can’t get it.) Zoom out, turn right, and leave the room.

Go back to the West Hallway (I think you can find your way there by now, right? ). Go to the door at the end, use the generic door key to unlock it, and go inside.

Turn right, zoom in on the table, and examine the box. You need to click the gems in the right order. I don’t think there are any clues for this, so it’s just trial-and-error. Here’s the solution for you impatient types:
Spoiler:
Bottom-right, top-left, top-right, bottom-left, center, bottom-center.
Inside the box is a paper written by Liesl’s mother. This is actually an important clue, so record it. Now zoom out.

Turn right, and zoom in on the dresser. Open the left cupboard, pull out the envelope, and open it to get the chapel key. Then put the envelope back.

Open the bottom-middle drawer, pull out the blue box, open it, and read the paper inside. Inside is a picture of the orphanage where you, the protagonist, grew up! Why would that be here?

There’s nothing in the other drawer or cupboard, so zoom out.

Turn right, and zoom in on the left-hand armchair. Get the star shape from the chair, then zoom out.

Now zoom in on the right-hand armchair. Look at the paper here to find the name “Dickens” — the second of the six authors. Record it, then zoom out.

Turn left and leave the room.

Time to visit the chapel. Go back to the Main Foyer, and leave through the front door. Turn left, and go forward to the chapel entrance (first, though, you can view the graves on the left for a quick laugh. Kudos for the “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” reference! ). Go forward again to the chapel door, use the chapel key to unlock it, and go inside.

You can go forward to the altar, but there’s nothing there except an empty bowl that you can’t take, so don’t bother. Instead, zoom in on the pulpit on the right. Here you’ll find the third author, Shakespeare, so record it. You’ll also find a reference to a Bible passage, Psalms 23:1-6. This number is important, so record it as well. Then zoom out.

Turn right, and zoom in on the statue of Mary (or rather, on her feet). There are eight buttons here, which you must push in the right order. The order is given by the Bible passage you just saw: 2, 3, 1, 6. The left panel opens, giving you yet another generic door key; get it, then zoom out.

Turn right and leave the chapel. (There’s nothing in the fourth view except a basin of holy water, which you can’t use yet.)

Head back into the house, and go upstairs. Turn left, zoom in on the first door on the left, and use the generic door key to unlock it. Go in.

Zoom in on the music stand on the left. There you’ll find author number four, Dante, so record it. Then zoom out.

The book on the center table has a bunch of family crests, but we don’t know which family we’re looking for yet, so leave it for now.

Zoom in on the small table on the right, and examine the box. There are six faces here, each showing a different emotion. Remember the mother’s letter describing her feelings? That’s the clue to this box. Click the buttons under the faces in the following order:
Spoiler:
Inside is…you guessed it, another generic door key. Get it, then zoom out, and leave the room.

Turn right, and zoom in on the left-hand door. Unlock it with the generic door key, then go in.

Don’t bother with the table, there’s just some jewelry there. Turn right, and zoom in on the left armchair. Examine the book and open it, to find a poem. This is a clue for later, so record it. Then zoom out.

Turn right, and zoom in on the table to the left of the door. Examine the box. There are three buttons here, and you need to (what else?) click them in the right order. I don’t think there are any clues for this, but it’s only three buttons, so it’s pretty easy to figure out. But for all you lazy players out there, here’s the solution:
Spoiler:
Then click the bottom button to open the box, and read the paper inside.

It’s a letter to Mrs. Woodhouse from a Swiss paranormal researcher, and it pretty much confirms what we all knew as soon as we read the coroner’s report: we’ve got a vampire on our hands, folks. (Ok, he just calls it “undead”, but it’s pretty obvious it’s a vampire, unless you know of some OTHER undead creature with a hereditary curse who bites people and drains their blood.) Although it was a bit of a surprise that MR. WOODHOUSE was the vampire.

Anyway, there are two important pieces of info here. First, the vampire’s ancestral family name: Tzaveshi. Second, the method to kill the creature: you must use the “Sword of Acheron” to stab him in the heart, but only after consecrating the sword first.

Now close the paper and zoom all the way out.

Zoom in on the painting on the right. There are six hotspots here, and you have to click them in the right order. The clue for this one is the poem you saw earlier. Solution:
Spoiler:
Bottom-left (rock), bottom-right (wood), top-middle (mountain top), middle-left (snow), middle-right (leaf), bottom-middle (water).
The painting opens, and you get another generic door key. Grab it, and zoom out.

Turn right, and zoom in on the dresser. Open the right drawer, pull out the box, and open it. Inside is a picture of a nun. And not just any nun, but the nun who ran the orphanage you grew up in! Flip the picture over, and find the message “She [the nun] has sworn to protect her [you]“. Curiouser and curiouser…

There’s nothing in the left drawer, so zoom out, turn left, and leave the room.

Turn left, and enter the first door on the left. Open the book of family crests on the center table. Now that we know the correct family (Tzaveshi), flip to that family’s crest and record it. Then leave the room.

Turn right, zoom in on the right door, and use the generic door key to unlock it. Go in.

Inside, you’ll have another quick encounter with the ghostly Liesl (“He knows you’re here!”) before she disappears.

On the floor is a ouija board; interesting, but not important.

Zoom in on the teddy bear in the lower left. Open the heart locket around his neck, and read the paper inside for your fifth author, Andersen. Record it, then zoom out.

Zoom in on the doll on top of the left-hand chest of drawers. Examine the blue box next to her, and use the star shape on the empty hole. Click the stars in size order, largest to smallest, and the box opens. Inside you’ll find an ornate key. Get it, then zoom out.

Zoom in on the collection of dolls at the foot of the bed. Pull out the round box behind them, and use the ornate key to unlock it. Open it to get another generic door key (getting tired of these things yet?). Then zoom out.

Zoom in on the boom box next to the bed. Notice the colored buttons at the bottom. Remember those colored stamps I told you to record? Click the buttons in the order given by the stamps:
Spoiler:
green, red, red, blue.
The casette slot opens; inside is a tape with Liesl’s favorite songs listed on it. Record them, then zoom out.

Edit: Ok, I THOUGHT the button order was given by the stamps, but as it turns out, all you need to do is click the blue button, and it opens. A bug, perhaps?

Zoom in on the teddy bear on the bed. Read the note behind him. It’s a letter written by Mrs. Woodhouse to her dead daughter, begging her forgiveness…

However, the note also mentions that Mrs. Woodhouse had another baby girl, who she left in safe hands, far away from her vampire daddy. Gee, I wonder what became of that little girl?

Close the note and zoom out. We’re finally done in this room, so leave.

Turn left, go to the door at the end of the hall, and unlock it with the generic door key. Go in, and climb the stairs to the attic. (Don’t worry, nothing scary up there either.)

Zoom in on the painting near the bottom center. Examine the box behind it. Push the buttons (I think you can push them in any order) to open it, and get the Sword of Acheron! (But remember, you have to consecrate it before you can use it.) Now zoom out.

Turn left, and zoom in on the box in the middle. Inside are a collection of old record albums. Remember the four songs that were Liesl’s favorites? You need to find those four songs on the album covers, and record (no pun intended) the number associated with each. They are:
Spoiler:

Now zoom out.

Turn left twice, and zoom in on the box in the foreground. First read the newspaper clipping. It seems that Mrs. Woodhouse was committed to a mental asylum after “murdering” her husband, due to her claims that she was “trying to kill the undead”. Poor lady…

(Wait, if the coroner’s official report says that Leisl died from having her blood drained out, then why does this article still say she drowned?)

Now close the article, and examine the box behind it. The code for this box consists of the four song numbers you just found:
Spoiler:
6325
Inside, you’ll find…drumroll please…another generic door key!!! (Last one, I promise!) Grab it and zoom out.

Turn right (on the floor here is a plug for one of this author’s other games), and go back downstairs to the second floor, then down to the first floor. Go back outside to the chapel (you remember where that is, right?), turn left, and zoom in on the basin of holy water. Use the Sword of Acheron on it to consecrate it, thus making it the consecrated Sword of Acheron. Now we’re ready to do some vampire slayin’!

Leave the chapel and go back to the house. Turn right and enter the East Hallway, then zoom in on the first door on your right. Unlock it with the generic door key, and go in to enter the library.

Turn right, and zoom in on the writing desk. Open the box on the left, and read the paper inside to find the sixth and final author, Cervantes. Record it.

Now read the letter on the desk. It was written by Mr. Woodhouse (aka Vampire Daddy), to a “David Black, Esq”, asking him to track down his lost second child and return her to the family. Wait a minute…David Black? That’s the name of the lawyer who sent you the inheritance letter at the beginning of the game! (If you haven’t figured out by now that YOU are the lost second child, please slap yourself for me. )

Now zoom out.

Turn right twice, and zoom in on the bookshelf. Time to finally use those six authors. You need to click the six books in alphabetical order by author’s name:
Spoiler:
The Little Match Girl (Andersen)
Don Quixote de la Mancha (Cervantes)
Inferno (Dante)
Bleak House (Dickens)
The Odyssey (Homer)
Macbeth (Shakespeare)

The bookcase opens, revealing a secret passage. Enter.

Right away, you’re faced with a code panel containing a bunch of pictures. Remember the vampire’s family crest you recorded? Use the symbols from that to figure out the code:
Spoiler:
Crown, Sword, Helmet, Star, Fleur De Lis, Dragon.
The door opens; go down the stairs.

At the bottom is a tightly sealed door, and another panel. Examine the panel, and click to open it. And you’re met with the message “I don’t know the code for this…”. You can’t even try to brute-force it. Great.

So at this point, you’ve used every key, you have no items left except the sword, you’ve been everywhere except through that door, and you have no unused clues. What’s a girl to do? At times like this, it’s best to sleep on it. Head all the way back up to the second floor, turn right, and enter the guest bedroom. Now you can take a nap in the bed, so do so. Your sleep is troubled by a creepy nightmare about the vampire (and dang, is he ugly!), but it also reveals a new code. Record it, then head all the way back down to that secret passage behind the bookcase, and go back down the stairs.

Open up the code panel again. Now we know the code, so enter it:
Spoiler:
The sealed door opens, so steel your nerves and enter the crypt.

Go forward to the coffin. Here he is, the big nasty vampire himself. Now, you’ve got a consecrated Sword of Acheron, and he’s got an exposed chest cavity. I think you can figure out what to do here.

After you’ve visited stabby vengeance upon his undead backside, zoom out. You get one last scene of ghostly Liesl, thanking you for vanquishing the evil at last.

Now head back upstairs, go out into the Main Foyer, and zoom in on the phone next to the stairs. Click it to call a taxi, and…

YOU’RE OUT!!!

Woah! such a looooooooong game – i kinda stopped playing and started reading ur walkthrough — it seemed more interesting and amusing than the game itself!!!!
i loved the way u wrote and couldnt help a chuckle or two at these places:

*nightmare about the vampire (and dang, is he ugly!),
(Ok, he just calls it “undead”, but it’s pretty obvious it’s a vampire, unless you know of some OTHER undead creature with a hereditary curse who bites people and drains their blood.)
*Gee, I wonder what became of that little girl?
*********(If you haven’t figured out by now that YOU are the lost second child, please slap yourself for me.********LMAO!!!
*Go in, and climb the stairs to the attic. (Don’t worry, nothing scary up there either.)
*Inside, you’ll find…drumroll please…another generic door key!!! (Last one, I promise!) Grab it and zoom out.

to add to the trial n error stuck up time comsuming puzzles – how did u ever manage to have the patience to even get past those!!! u have a gift :|

Thanx fr the walkthrouhg – though i did not have the pleasure to see that ugly vampire im satisfied n happy just reading ur walkthrough to know the end –

thoroughly enjoyed it! Kudos !!

Use the heartshaped key in the room with the heartshaped box, you get another key with opens a room with a scrabble game on the floor

Use the needle and combine it with the crowbar to get the key in the well

for the key in the well you have to get the tool froom the basebant and the neadle from the ‘living room’. First use the tool to get the well open, then combine it with the neadle and you get the key

I’ve found a green button-like piece in a drawer somewhere… it goes on the box I’ve found on the towels room, it gave me a key to the basement, when I go down i cannot do nothing but climb on top of a bunch of boxes and fall down constantly…
also I’ve seen somewhere a note telling me to pull from the sixth book but I’ve found no library so far… STUCK!

I really want to like this game (I’m a sucker for the creepy mansion adventure games); but this games goes no where fast. I’ve found a few keys acquired a bent needle and all I’m getting are tons of locked doors and drawers and cupboards full of fascinating looking items I can’t pick up. There’s actually very little in the game that can be interacted with and there’s no “magical progression” where reading the right book in room A causes a door to open in room B.

Am I the only one having problems with this? How do you use items? I’ve opened up the bag and tried dragging the key over to the door (or to where the door should be: the bag overs the whole screen) and nothing happens.
